FASHION FRIDAY: SUMMER FRIDAY

Today’s post about Summer Fridays fit so well with my fashion world that I couldn’t help but do a post on it! While there is no “Summer Friday” where I work now, when I interned at Glamour everyday was like Summer Friday…except we didn’t get to work half days everyday…Anywhoo, the fashion rules do change a little bit with Summer Fridays and you are allowed to be a little more casual with your work outfit. As you have probably have read in the previous post, Summer Friday attire cannot be used as an excuse to go buck wild and crazy…Just because it’s half-day means nothing. It only takes about 5 minutes to fire someone :) .

Here are a few tips on what pieces are appropriate for dressing for work on a Summer Friday.

Do’s and Don’ts of Summer Fridays

Nothing too short
– Skirts and shorts are nice and can be dressed up for summer Fridays. But like the previous post on Summer Fridays said, you don’t want to expose too much of your body. There is a fine line between casual and inappropriate. Make shore shorts and skirts are not too short!

Wear undergarments - Casual summer dresses are super cute and can be worn  on a summer Friday, but if the dress requires you to go bra-less, showing too much cleavage, save it for a different occasion.

Make Use of Denim
– Some employers let employees where denim on Friday! Take advantage. There are plenty of ways to dress up (and dress down denim). Who wouldn’t want to wear their favorite pair of comfy jeans to work?

Nothing See Through – We know its hot outside and see through fabrics can be light and airy. If you are going to wear something see through consider wearing something under or over it.

No Flip Flops – Although some people may beg to differ, flip flops and slippers of any kind are inappropriate for work. There are many other cute alternatives, like sandals and flats that can be made work appropriate, and are great for casual days. Flip flops are for the beach…or the bathrooms in a college dorm.

Get some style ideas and then get shopping, you’re one step closer to building your ‘grown up’ wardrobe
