During undergrad I seldom heard that one of my female peers was asked on a date. Why would any guy ask someone on date when there would be an array of ladies they could meet at frat /house parties. That would be like someone asking to pay for wood while camping in the forest, may not happen. However, that doesn’t mean there are not some guys out there who are willing to pay and invest the time…
So what’s chivalry? You’d probably get that very response if you asked a good number of your peers. So lets start with a definition; chivalry is defined simply as courtesy towards women. Being chivalrous receives its characterization from medieval institutions, namely knighthood, so it can be viewed as “being attentive to women like an ideal knight.”
So now that we know what it is…have you seen it around anywhere??…because I’m having a hard time finding it!
In an effort to incorporate a male presence on the site, I reached out to some guys I know and respect to see if they would write a post on a topic that seems to be a big point of discussion in our age group. I asked them to give me their thoughts on chivalry. Yes, I know this a big issue for a lot of males and females, but I thought I would start the discussion from a males perspective. I picked two of the most chivalrous men that I know (out side of my father because he is a little out of the demographic). Their posts will be posted on the site in two parts.
