‘Heard ‘Em Say’: The Unseen Dream

Lately I have been reading a great deal of articles and devotionals about dreams.  Texts about expressing your dreams and not only believing in yourself, but also making others believe in your dreams as well; very meaningful advice.

The one thing that stuck out from all of my reading was this:

“Most of us are looking for a calling, not a job. Most of us…have jobs that are too small for our spirit.” When a dream is truly great, it benefits everyone. Your job is to help people see what those benefits are…People see before and after pictures, and they want the ‘after.’ But if you live your dream, practice integrity, and achieve a degree of success, people will see what the dream has done for you and that will make them want it too…When that happens, your dream becomes bigger than you or your team.”

Our callings are much bigger than we think. It’s our job to make others see how high our dreams place on the scale.

A little bit of Inspiration!

My younger sister shared this video with me and it helped life me out of a funk that I was somehow developing. I hope it helps inspire you as well!

I’m Obsessed…

I have always had an obsession with success (hey there are worse things to be obsessed with!). I am not only obsessed with my own success, but also the success of others, which is part of the reason that I began But Now What. I am convinced that if people are given access to resources, more often than not, they will do something positive with them. Call me naive, or overly optimistic, but that is how I feel. With the recent Forbes interview with Jay Z and Warren Buffet spreading like wildfire, I know that I am not the only one who is interested in the idea of success.

Don’t get too comfortbale….

For as long as I can remember, my dream has been to host my own talk show. I talk about it all the time and I have all these elaborate plans about how to make it happen. In my head I was doing what I needed to do to make my dream a reality. It wasn’t until an unexpected ambush by people whom I love and respect that I realized that I have gotten comfortable and have not done all I needed to do.

When I Grow Up: Kendrick Reid, BET Networks

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wondered why it seems that some people get to live out their dreams, while others end up forgoing theirs. I have never been able to figure out the “thing” that drives some to pursue and make their dreams a reality. I thought it would be beneficial to talk to some people in the advance stages of their careers to see if they are living their dreams. The “When I Grow Up” feature will look at these individuals’ career journeys, as opposed to an examination of their current company. There is so much that we can discover by looking at the different paths people take to arrive at their current position in life. Join me as we take a look at the journey of Kendrick Reid, SVP/Executive Creative Director, Brand Strategy, BET Networks.
