Midnight Snack: Let’s be Aware

While we are still in our mid-twenties, those of us who have been given the gift of good health, often tend to take it for granted, and assume that we will always be healthy. While this could be the case for some, it may not be the case for everyone. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I have found some interesting resources that can help you become more proactive with your own health, as well as help others who may not be as fortunate as you in the health department.

The first resource is the United Breast Cancer Foundation. The foundation provides a variety of services for people going through breast cancer and their families. One of the great things they provide is free breast cancer screenings for people who may have limited coverage  or have no health insurance. If you are a recent college graduate without a job and would like a screening please reach out and schedule an appointment!

If you are the artsy type, something that might be great to do with a group of friends is knitting simple caps for patients going through Chemotheraphy. Simple patterns for the caps can be found at Head Huggers. Information on where you can donate the caps can be found at The Hat Box Foundation.

The last resource I absolutely love because you get to give and receive. The ladies at Pretty City and their partners, are providing discounted spa packages, and products. With this you get to enjoy great perks and help a great cause. All the partners pay a fee to be a part of the program, and 100% of the fees go to education, and support for women who are at high risk for breast and ovarian cancer.

Remember: No one will ever take care of you as well as you take care of yourself, so make sure you are aware with whats going on with your health!
