Oh the Pressure…

With the new year in full swing, I, along with everyone else, am feeling the pressure to put into action all the things that I learned in 2009. In trying to make this new year better than the last, I took a look at what I did last new year and how that made a difference in the year that I had.

At the end of 2008, I was 25, just starting to grasp on my workplace responsibilities, and finally feeling like I was coming into my own in a city that had been my home for almost two years. In that spirit, I set all these outrageous goals for myself for the new year. I overloaded my plate with all these demands that I would meet in the new year. I would save the world, while wearing 5″ heels and not breaking a sweat.  I planned attend every wedding, visit every sick friend (even if I had not spoken to them in years), host book club meetings, dinner parties, networking events, start a blog, take the LSAT, attend every birthday party, hold leadership positions in 3 major non-profit organization, and I would do all this while holding down a full time job that demanded so much of my time. Yea I was doing the ABSOLUTE most, but, hey I thought, If Kimora can do it, why can’t I?
